Abhilash Narayan (ME'00) - He believes 'Personal Skill' and "Social capital' plays a great role in students empployability. He says "Improve 'Technical skill' by updating curriculum, Eminent faculty, Improving math ability. Improve 'Personal Skill' through management and humanities study, soft skill training, involving in extracurricular/association activities, group tasks etc. Also engage in Alumni association activities, attending workshops, conferences, seminars etc."
Jayce Kuruvilla (EE'01) - Working in IT field. She says "1) More application level assignments that help students practically use their knowledge as and when they learn will be helpful. Putting theory to practice will ignite their interest and help them put their thinking caps on even when they study, not only in the final year when they have to do a project. 2) Include presentations on latest technologies, technical papers, even topics from syllabus as part of class assignments, rather than just paper work assignments. 3) Invite people with technical expertise in relevant fields for discussions , symposiums etc probably for final year students. Take students who are showing great aptitude for learning to state wide or nation wide symposiums. 4) Communication skills are super super important in an interview or group discussion. So anything possible to improve English speaking skills should be done. You can possibly bring in good trainers for this purpose. Conduct mock discussions right from first semester. Giving training in the final semester alone is not helpful. 5) Team assignments should be introduced earlier on in the curriculum. 6) Make personality development a part of the learning process from day 1 of the student. 7) Being socially aware and active, and involved in the society itself is a good way to develop networks and connections that help in job search. RIT's efforts during flood relief in neighboring places was commendable. Likewise people need to know that such a reputed college exists. Students have to be there in the society as part of such campaigns, or field work etc."
